The policies of the school guide and describe the main processes, functions and operations of the school. The development and review of policies is part of an agreed process to ensure that key stakeholders are part of the consultation and review process.
In-school decision making procedures are plans that schools develop and use to guide the response to particular situations or events. Generally, each plan is broken down into a series of steps and identifies the people and resources involved in each of those steps. A school’s procedures and policies will be most effective when they are tailored to meet the needs of the school community and there is consultation with staff, students and parents.
