Have questions? Look no further. At OLGC we know families will have lots of questions about the enrolment process and we want to make this as simple as possible. If you can't find what you're looking for contact us for assistance.
Can I visit the school to see it ‘in action’?
Yes, all prospective families are invited to visit the school. Tours are available by appointment with the office during school hours. We also hold Open Days in March and May each year, on a regular school day.
When do I need to apply?
The enrolment period is generally April-May and enrolments will be accepted up to two years prior to your child commencing Prep. To be eligible to enrol in Prep, children must reach age 5 by 30 April in the year of commencement. Casual vacancies exist throughout the School, so contact us to enquire about your application anytime.
What is the process for enrolment?
A completed enrolment form along with supporting documents should be submitted to the school office along with the $100 administration fee. Enrolment forms are available from the school office or downloadable from the school website. Documents needed along with the enrolment form include birth certificate, baptismal certificate, immunisation records, and passport if you are newly arrived in Australia. New parents are then interviewed by the principal and parish priest before an enrolment is finalised.
Do I need to pay the $100 deposit for every child enrolled at OLGC?
Yes, the $100 is payable for each child and is an administration fee. On acceptance of a position at OLGC, $500 is payable to secure a position, and is then deducted from the first fee payment schedule.
Can my child change schools now and come to OLGC straight away?
Yes, we will accept applications for immediate start if places are available. Please contact the school office as soon as possible to discuss availability.
Does the school enrol families living outside the Parish boundary?
Yes, however there is an agreed order of priority for enrolment in Catholic primary schools in the Archdiocese. Please refer to the enrolment policy or contact the school office.
Does the school enrol families from other religious traditions and beliefs?
Yes. Contemporary Catholic schools are places which welcome all who genuinely seek to be part of the life of the school and wish to share in a vibrant, well-resourced learning environment, based on Catholic faith and values. As per our enrolment policy these places are dependent on availability from year to year.
Are there tuition fees and levies?
Yes, all Catholic Schools require families to contribute to the ongoing costs of maintaining a Parish Primary School. School fees are essential to supplement the Commonwealth and State grants for Catholic Education. They are kept to a minimum and go towards covering school operation costs, expenditure and maintenance. In addition to school fees, each family is invited to make a financial contribution for support of the parish. 30% of this parish contribution will go directly to the Parish School Building Fund for which you will receive a tax receipt. Our Parish School Building Fund has deductible gift recipient status (DGR) and all donations to that fund will receive a tax receipt.
Will there be an orientation day before my child starts at OLGC?
All children commencing OLGC at the beginning of the school year will be involved in transition and orientation program in the year prior to commencing. This will vary for children entering at different times of the year.
What if my child has particular needs, are they eligible for enrolment?
All families are interviewed before a child commences school to determine whether there are any additional learning needs to be considered. We ask for as much information as possible during the enrolment process to ensure that all relevant considerations are made, and that the School and the family have the same understanding and expectations.
More information is available on our enrolment policy.
